# Inbox split

**Audience:** Chatters and managers working in an OnlyFans or Fansly session.

**Inbox split** divides one creator’s chat list across the people who are in **Messages** right now. Each chatter only sees **their** fans plus a slice of new / unassigned chats. Two people should not open the same fan and type over each other.

It is **not** [Live sessions](/creatorxone/live-sessions.md). Live sessions shows who holds the desktop slot for the creator. Inbox split is who sees which **fans** in that creator’s inbox.

Same tool on OnlyFans and Fansly.

## What you see

A dark bar sits at the **top of Messages**, full width (not mixed into the chat rows):

| Label | Meaning |
| ----------------------------------------------------------- | ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
| **Connecting…** | The bar is still loading. Wait a few seconds. If it stays, refresh the session. |
| **Off** | Everyone on the account sees the same chats. |
| **Numbered tiles (1, 2, 3…)** | Each tile is one inbox. **Blue + You** is yours. A name on a grey tile is who covers that inbox. |
| **New chats in inboxes 1 and 2, plus fans assigned to you** | What this screen is showing. Owned fans always stay with you; the numbers are only for new / unassigned chats. |
| **You see every chat** | Split is on, but **you** are not covering an inbox. Typical for a manager who is only looking. Chats are not hidden on your screen until you click **Cover an inbox**. |
| **Showing every chat** | Split is on, but an inbox would have had nobody covering, so hide is paused. |
| **Only you covering** / **Also covering: Ana** | Who is working this creator’s inbox right now. Hover for names. |
| **Stay on** | **Auto** lets CreatorXOne pick so every inbox has someone. Pick a number to always take that inbox. |
| **Loading more of your chats…** | Other people’s chats are hidden, so the list is paging in the background until your chats fill the screen. |
| **{name} is here** | Orange pill in the open chat header. Someone else has that fan open. Warn only — it does not lock the chat. |

**Help** on the bar opens this page.

## What is hidden (and what is not)

When split is on and you have joined:

1. Fans **assigned to you** always stay visible.
2. Fans **assigned to someone else** are hidden.
3. New / unassigned fans are spread across the numbered inboxes (the manager picks **2** to **9** of them). You only see unassigned fans in **your** inboxes.

Owned fans follow the person, not the slice. A whale does not jump to another numbered inbox at shift change.

The first message you send to an unassigned fan can stick that fan to you so they stay on your list next time.

## Turn it on (managers)

You need one of the **Settings → Company settings** permissions: **Session Management**, **Setup TimeZone**, or **Edit Agency Name**. Chatters with **Access to Messages** use the split once it is on; they do not turn it on themselves.

1. Open a desktop [session](/creatorxone/publish-your-docs/login-to-creator-profile.md) and go to **Messages**.
2. On the bar, set **Inboxes** to how many numbered inboxes you want (**2** through **9**). Use **4** if four chatters usually sit this account.
3. Click **Turn on**.
4. If you yourself should take fans, click **Cover an inbox**. If you are only looking, leave it — you will still see every chat.

You can change **Inboxes** later without turning split off. **Turn off** shows everyone the full list again. Turning it off does **not** reshuffle who owns which fan.

Match slices to the people actually chatting. Split-to-4 with only two people on shift still works: leftover slices are auto-covered so nothing goes dark. If a slice would have nobody, hide pauses (**Showing every chat**) instead of losing fans.

## Work a slice (chatters)

1. Open **Messages** on the creator. Split is on. Regular chatters are covering automatically.
2. Blue tiles are **your** inboxes. You see new / unassigned chats in those numbers, plus every fan already assigned to you.
3. Optional: **Stay on** a number (1–9) if you always want that inbox. **Auto** lets CreatorXOne pick so every inbox has someone.
4. With a chat open: **Mine** assigns that fan to you, **Give** hands them to a teammate who is covering, **Move** sends them to whoever is covering that inbox.

**Stop covering** (managers) shows you every chat again without turning split off for the team.

## If something looks wrong

| Symptom | What to try |
| ------------------------------------------ | ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ |
| Bar is stuck in the chat list | Refresh the session. The bar should sit at the top of Messages, full width. |
| Bar says **Connecting…** and never changes | Stay on **Messages**, wait, then refresh. You must be in a CreatorXOne session, not a raw browser tab. |
| You see every chat while split is on | Click **Cover an inbox**, or hide paused because an inbox had no cover. |
| The list looks short and never loads more | Stay on **Messages**. The bar should say **Loading more of your chats…** while it pages past hidden rows. Refresh if it stays empty. |
| Two people still hit the same fan | Split reduces collisions; it does not lock a chat. Watch the **{name} is here** pill. Use **Mine** / **Give** if ownership is wrong. |
| A fan disappeared after you owned them | They are assigned to someone else. Ask a manager to **Give** them back, or open **Fans** and change the owner. |
